SANFORD, Fla. —The attorney for a man says he was badly hurt during an incident with Sanford Police Department officers. They say a stun gun was used on the man during an arrest, leading to a fall.

An internal review was ordered to look into the big difference in the way the incident is being described.

“He has scrapes on the back of his hands, he has a broken index figure, he has a broken nose, he has stitches and sutures in his head,” internal investigator Shayan Modarres.

Samuel Fuller’s attorney released photos of client taken after the attempted arrest.

The attorney said he questions the partial report suggesting that police officers saw a dice game and that Fuller picked up the dice and some cash when they arrived Sunday afternoon.

Officers said Fuller tried to flee when they told him to stop.

According to the report, police officers used a stun gun to stop Fuller. They said he then fell to the ground.

“I think the injuries Mr.Fuller sustained are not consistent with him simply falling face-first on the pavement. It’s just not consistent,” Modarres said.

Sanford’s police chief called for the internal review.

“There was no indication from anyone that was at the scene that there was anything more than what’s in those two or three reports,” Chief Cecil Smith said.
